Established originally as Select International Ltd in 1988 by Managing Director Alan Archer, Select began life as a consultancy assisting US manufacturers in the HVAC industry to enter the new European Economic Community.

By the early 1990s Select Products International (SPI) had evolved into the company's physical production and distribution arm. The next decade saw the business expand with the creation of 3 new businesses: Select Solutions, Select Facilities and online division Trade Counter Direct.com.

In 2002 The Select Group of Companies Ltd was formed through the consolidation of its 4 different operating businesses. The Select Group's office and warehouse is based in the South West of England. View map

  Select Solutions is the Group's centre for new product innovation and development. In 2008 Select started on potentially its most exciting project to date, the ALERT Project. EU funded The Alert Project is part of a European Consortium working towards the development of ground-breaking asbestos detection equipment that could potentially save 1000s of lives, particularly within the Construction industry. Select is responsible for Exploitation and Dissemination of the project and will Manufacture and Distribute the finish instrument worldwide.

  Select Products Int'l (SPI) supplies in excess of 1000 top brand products to Plumbing, Heating, Air-conditioning, Engineering, Maintenance and Building Merchants locations across the UK and into Europe. Including National and Independent Merchant Customers via traditional Trade Counters and also Online and Mail Order Catalogue distributors. Specialising in unique, time saving products SPI distributes over 100 own-branded products along with manufacturing our own brand ReversiDoor® Access Panels and abrasives A-Braid® and CleanFit®.   Trade Counter Direct started in 2005 as an Ebay shop, by 2006 a dedicated website and company was launched. TCD now supplies 1000s of professional brand tools and products direct to busy tradesmen from all trade sectors, as well as serious DIY enthusiasts. 2010 saw a new-look site launched with an extended offering covering a broader spectrum of construction industry sectors, plus new Gardening and DIY sections. TCD also runs a scheme for UK Colleges and Training Centres called 'College Credits' offering training facilities and their students special discounts and rebates on tools. TCD Tool Shop, the very 1st tool shopping app for iPhone was launched In June 2011 to allow busy tradesmen to buy products for site from wherever they might be.

  Select Facilities is the warehousing and logistics division of The Select Group. Whilst its primary focus is to support Select Products and Trade Counter Direct's logistics requirements, it also offers satellite warehousing, archiving and storage externally to businesses looking to expand without the additional expense of larger premises.

The Future
The Select Group is currently making plans to build a new 70,000 square foot office, hi-tech production and distribution facility ready for 2013. Our ambitious expansion of revenues are on target for each business module over the next 5 years incorporating several new and exciting product introductions. (See Select Solutions for more info).

  Alert Project
  Alert will be the world's first range of instruments able to detect and alarm if the presence of airborne asbestos is detected in real time. Alert is a risk reduction device.

  Select Time is next generation time and attendance equipment. Using biometric technology and tested software, Select Time give employers another layer of security, reduces employee costs and improves administrative efficiency.
